Firmware recovery for the Hitachi DVD rom drive on the Xbox 360.
Usually happens with a bad flash. The only way to recover a bad flash on a Hitachi drive is to physically remove the flash chip, reprogram it in a dedicated flash programmer and then solder it back into position.
Check below to see what version you have:-
The Small PCB within the Hitachi drive is now all that is required. This will cut down on postage costs dramatically.
Take all the screws out of the drive, 6 in total. Then take out the 4 ribbon cables. The ribbon cable for the laser requires the connector to be unclipped and pushed forward. Plus the ribbon cable is stuck to the reverse of the board. It can be pealed off, but be careful.
Email your firmware to HERE
in the form of dvd_drive_serial_number.bin, that way the firmware can be matched drive. The firmware is not required as 99% of the time we can recover the key from the drive. This is because the key is never overwritten during a flash.
Then Book a Job -- HERE.
Once booked your Job will then appear in Look Up Job section -- HERE.. If you have more than one job they will all appear. At this stage you can then print a job label and shipping label by hitting j-label or s-label respectively.
The postage is for your drive, not an entire console.
If Dual Firmware mod is selected. The chip is sent out with Original Firmware in both blocks.
NOTE: If you want your drive setup to look like a specific firmware version. Please select from below or leave standard whatever the board comes in with.
